I’m weary. I’m weary and tired of senseless Christianity. What is senseless Christianity? It’s that form of Christianity that enjoys, nay, I say boasts in, its ignorance. Ignorance of what? Many things….most things. Ignorance of the Word (except for a few pithy maxims and moral-isms…you know the ones, “God helps those who help themselves” or “Thou shalt use only the 1611 KJV”. Those verses are in the bible somewhere, right?), ignorance of doctrine, ignorance of theology, ignorance of how men are saved, ignorance of proper worship (have you ever listened closely to the words in many of our “best loved southern gospel favorites”?), ignorance of how to even converse with non-believers. Some seem to major on verses that speak to God using the “foolish things” to confound the wise, yet minor in commands to seek wisdom, to be as “shrewd as serpents”, to let our life and conduct bring glory, not shame to God. Some even seem bent on being so foolish as to invite persecution; not because of the Christ-likeness of their walk, but because of the mockery they make of themselves. Senseless Christianity is not Christ-honoring Christianity.
