Ouch!

Here’s a good reminder from Todd Wilson’s You ‘da Dad 2008 calendar.

“How am I doing in…”
…making my wife feel loved?
…meeting the ‘time’ needs of my children?
…listening when my wife and children talk?
…making them feel important?
…filling up their “love tanks?”
…building them up with my words?
…making them feel secure in my commitment?
…preparing my children for life as an adult?
…leading them spiritually?
…my relationship with God?

Ouch! That hurts.
Thanks Todd for the good reminder.

Outside the Camp!

John Piper’s message at T4G ‘08 (How the Supremacy of Christ Creates Radical Christian Sacrifice) has been the theme of my year so far.

Heb 13:12-13 has led me to challenge several decisions to glorify God rather than maintain a comfortable life.  It has become clear that God has been growing me through battling egalitarianism in accepting my responsibility to lead my wife and family in the face of opposition.  The fear of God has to reign supreme over our fear of man.
